Photodynamic therapy in Midland Michigan

Photodynamic therapy is a treatment used for pre-cancerous lesions on the skin called actinic keratoses. The treatment involves application of a medication (aminolevulinic acid, ALA) on the skin surface in the office followed by an incubation period to let the medication soak in and take effect. Then, a high intensity blue light is used to activate the medication and kill the precancerous cells. The treatment is FDA approved and highly effective in treating pre-cancerous lesions. Photodynamic therapy is usually covered by insurance.
